Privacy Policy — Kept

Kept is designed so that we cannot see your data, because it never leaves your device.

Data collection

We collect no data. The app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. The app itself makes no network connections; the only system capability it uses is Apple's StoreKit for the optional one-time Template Pack purchase, which Apple processes — we never see your payment information.

Your log, resumes, and letters

Everything you enter — items, hours, supervisor contacts, your name and contact details, any resume variants you create, and any cover letters you write — is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. It is included in your normal device backups (iCloud or computer backups you control) and is deleted when you delete the app or use “Delete everything” in the More tab.

Your resume header is personal information by design (name, email, phone). It is never transmitted anywhere by the app. It leaves your device only inside a file — a PDF, text, CSV, or backup — that you yourself export through the iOS share sheet or save to Files/iCloud Drive.

Importing an existing resume

If you import a PDF, RTF, or text file, the app reads it on your device and turns it into draft items for you to review. The reading is done by plain pattern matching in the app's own code — there is no AI service, no server, and nothing is uploaded. The app sees only the single file you hand it through Apple's document picker; it has no access to the rest of your files, and it does not keep a copy of the original document. Where the app wasn't sure about something, it saves the few lines it was reading alongside that item so it can show you what it saw — that text lives in your log like anything else you type, and it goes away when you delete the item.

Supervisor contacts and references

Contact details you save for supervisors and references are for your own records. They are stored on-device like everything else and appear only in the hours-report or references file you choose to export.

Backups you export

The backup file (whether shared or saved to Files/iCloud Drive) contains your complete log in plain JSON. Treat it like the personal document it is; anyone you send it to can read it. Saving to Files uses Apple's on-device document picker — the app itself never uploads anything.
