Common questions
How are the marks worked out? From geometry. An offset uses the distance between marks equals the offset height divided by the sine of the bend angle, and the shrink equals the offset height times (1 divided by the sine minus 1 divided by the tangent). Saddles, kicks and rolling offsets are built from the same trigonometry. Nothing is read from a lookup table.
What is the take-up? It is how far back from the stub height the bender arrow goes for a 90 degree bend. The app starts with the usual values for 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/4 inch EMT hand benders. Open the bender card on any screen, tap Edit, and change it to match your bender. You can also add your own bender.
My 90 comes out a little long or short. Bender take-up varies between brands and with how worn the bender is. Make a test bend, measure the difference, and adjust the take-up for that bender by the same amount.
What spacing does the 3-point saddle use? By default the outer marks sit 2.5 times the obstruction height from the centre mark, which is the usual field rule. Settings has a switch for the exact trig value of about 2.613 times the height.
Can I use metric? Yes. Open Settings and choose Metric. Entry and results are in millimetres. You can type cm or m after a number.
Does it need internet? No. The app works fully offline.
Is there a subscription? No. The app is a one time purchase. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
